Agile Wallaby (Young male)
Macropus agilis

Male Agile wallaby - Macropus agilis

Agile Wallabies feed mainly on native grasses and in the dry time of the year will often dig into the soil to obtain and eat the roots. They are the most common member of the kangaroo family found in the Wet Tropics of Australia and are also found in the southern and eastern lowlands of Papua New Guinea.

Unfortunately the seemingly abundance of the Agile Wallaby and its perceived effect on crops and pastures has led to this beautiful animal being declared a pest species in most farming areas.
