Agile Wallaby
(young male)
Macropus agilis

Agile Wallabies are the most common member of
the kangaroo family found in the Wet Tropics of Australia and the southern and
eastern lowlands of Papua New Guinea. Feeding mainly on native grasses they will
often dig into the soil to obtain and eat the roots of these grasses.
Unfortunately the abundance of the Agile Wallaby and its perceived effects on
crops and pastures has led to this beautiful animal being declared a pest
species in most farming areas.
