
The Brown and the Stubble
Quail are the largest of Australia's Quail. They are found in the wetter coastal
and subcoastal regions in pairs or loose
non-breeding coveys of up to 30. The Tasmanian race is larger with a yellow eye
and the mainland race with a reddish eye. Nest is a small depression in the ground, lined
with grass and leaves. It is usually placed near water in dense cover under tuft
of grass or bush.
