Channel-billed
Cuckoo
Scythrops
novaehollandiae

The Channel-billed
Cuckoo migrates down from New Guinea and Indonesia in our summer to
breed. It parasitises the nest of Magpies, Crows and the Pied
Currawong. Often called the Storm-bird as it arrives in Nth
Queensland in (October-November) and it's raucous call heralds the
first storms of the season. In flight it resembles a flying walking
stick.
