Port Douglas - Daintree
Half Day Rainforest Wildlife Tour
A morning to remember

The Wompoo Pigeon (Ptilinopus magnificus) is one of the most magnificent of our rainforest birds.

Our half day tour is the morning segment of our full day safari. It consists of a short, pleasant  drive west ( 1/2 hour ) into the mountains to our home property "Thylogale Nature Refuge" for a interpretive rainforest and wildlife walk.

Red-legged pademelons such as this female and her joey are some of the marsupials regularly seen.

This delightful morning in the rainforest on our private walking trails produces numerous up close encounters with various rainforest birds, mammals and reptiles. A little rainforest ecology is also learnt. The role played by the resident wildlife in seed and spore dispersal is indeed a fascinating one. The healthy maintenance of this most complex of ecosystems requires the co-operation of a huge diversity of life.

"Morning Tea With The Wildlife" is a truly remarkable experience. It is held in the rainforest under the shelter of my "bush hide" surrounded by the wildlife.

You will be returned to your accommodation around midday.
