stipularis
a highly endangered species
The Sankowskya
stipularis is a monotypic genus with a very restricted distribution and habitat.
It has only been found in two other localities,
both within a 6 klm radius of Thylogale Nature Refuge. The genus has been named
in honour of a local botanist Gary Sankowsky who discovered the tree and
collected material in 1989.
It was described by
Paul I. Forster as a new genus of Euphorbiaceae in 1995.
